Reaching for the stars

From contemporary-music ballads to two-minute piano stanzas, several local youth entertained audiences at the Stars of Tomorrow Talent Show on Sunday.
Nine different children, ranging from second grade to high schools, showed off their musical talents at the Platte Valley Christian Center. The show, put on by the Platte Valley Kiwanis, aims to help youth work on their talents and emphasize the importance of fine arts.

Duo gets unexpected tour of Europe

A former resident of Saratoga is taking his talents to the Europe this spring.
Saratoga Middle/High school graduate Garry Wood and his wife Mirthe Bolhuis are headed to the Netherlands starting a two-month tour.
Dubbing themselves the "Bird and the Bear," the Folk/Americana duo said that though they have several shows lined up in Holland and Germany, their trip did not start out as a tour at all.

New museum director connects with the past

When Virginia Parker took her first official tour of the Saratoga Museum, she came in ready to share her knowledge.
She examined the diorama of Indians hunting buffalo explaining the materials the early natives used to create their spears. Then, she moved on to the basement, depicting where the family would sit in a Victorian living room.
