Serving the Platte Valley since 1888

Letters to the Editor

Fitzsimmons Bids Farewell

To My Friends in the North Platte Valley,

On the occasion of my taking leave of you, I want to express my profound thanks. Thank you all for giving me 2 of the most rewarding years of my professional life. Being able to be a part of initiating the NPVMC has been a great joy and privilege for me. Moreover, I have been treated so well by everyone from Hanna, Saratoga, Encampment, Riverside and Elk Mountain.

For all your myriad tender kindnesses to me I am and always will be profoundly and eternally grateful.  I will miss you more than you can know.

But I do need to clarify one thing.  The NPVMC has been giving letters to patients in the Clinic that say that I have retired.  This is a falsehood. And they should, and I believe do, know better. Those of you that know me, know that I love being a doctor and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. I will be starting a new position in Western Wyoming next year, but would have been happy as a clam to continue being a doctor in Saratoga for at least a few more years.  Being a doctor here has been a joy for me.

The sad fact is that my contract was not renewed.  I point no fingers, and accept no blame.  And I leave with nothing but a deep and abiding love for the NPVMC. Thank you all so much for letting me be a part of this hospital in its earliest days.  I hope it will serve these communities well for many, many, many years. And I pray that God keep each and every one of you in the Palm of His hand, that you each  might live in goodness and mercy and good health all the days of your lives.

With great affection,

Brendan H FitzSimmons MD
