Good Sportsmanship in Football
The Encampment Football team was recognized by the Wyoming High School Athletic Association for their excellent sportsmanship during the 2024 semi final football game.
In a letter to CCSD2, it said “being top notch the entire game. The kids were just great from a respect aspect and if something didn’t go their way they didn’t hang their head or place blame. The coaches were from top to bottom some of the most respectful coaches we have seen in a long time. If there was something that they questioned, they did in a way of what happened there and Thank You. As officials we really appreciate being treated with respect and they could not have treated us better.”
The Encampment Football team lost the championship against Burlington in triple overtime on November 8, ending their season without a trip to War Memorial Stadium for the championship.
The coaches for the 2024 Encampment Football team were Kegan Willford as head coach and Duane Gilbert as assistant coach.
