A life well lived!! Angeline Marken Kinnaman, known to her many friends as Angie, passed from this life on December 25, 2024. Angie, a proud native of New Mexico, was born November 6, 1934, and had lived in Rawlins since 1961.
Angie led an active and interesting life; her spunk and sparkle were impossible to miss. Angie married a Rawlins native, Dan Kinnaman, on November 15, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They became parents to three children, Dana, Andrew, and John. Her professional life was made up of her career as an engineer, a math teacher, owner of a childrens’ store (The Carousal), and a certified travel counselor. She served as Vice-President, Treasurer, and Director of the Carbon Mercantile Corp. Angie had been a Soroptimist for 28 years, serving in many capacities, and was the co-chairman of the Regional Conference in 2002.
Always one to be involved in her community, her volunteer endeavors include: Carbon County Library Trustee, local and state President of the League of Women voters, member of the Rawlins Water Development Committee, charter member of the Wyoming Tobacco Prevention Committee, member of the Wyoming Judicial Planning Committee, a volunteer with the Rawlins DDA and a member of two Carbon County School District Capital and Facilities Committees. In 2009, she was the recipient of the Paul Harris Foundation award from Rotary International. In 2016, she was named the Rawlins Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year.
The Catholic Church was an important part of Angie’s life, and through the years she served in many state and national capacities: Vice Chair and member of the Diocesan Pastoral Council, board of Catholic Charities, State President of the Wyoming Council of Catholic Women, Diocesan Pastoral Council, and Diocesan Social Justice Committee. Since 1981, Angie had held a special place in her heart for the local Society of St. Vincent DePaul. She spent many hours in various organizational capacities, as well as hours filling food baskets for those in need.
Angie had an interest in and enjoyed many things: reading, travel, exercising, learning, cooking, gardening, drinking hot tea….and she had a real love of chocolate!
Angie and Dan’s beloved daughter, Dana, passed away at the age of 17 after an illness lasting six years.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years, Dan and their two sons, Andrew and wife Eleanor, John and her grandchildren Maya and Ava, brother Larry Marken, and sister-in-law Juanita Marken.
