Richard Norman Blake was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, but spent most of his life in the Platte Valley.
He married Alice Joyce Herring in 1955. They had four children - Robin; Travis (Cheryl); Jade; Pam (Rob) and Mike (Katy).
His grandchildren are Christina Schamber, Clinton Blake(Lindsay), Eric and Ben Work.
His great grandchildren are Madison, Mason and Memphis Schamber, Ender Work and Carter Blake.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, and his son Robin.
Dick moved to Riverside in 1944 with his parents Mike and Violet and his siblings, Ron, Bob and Penny.
They family owned the Riverside Garage where he worked and pumped gas, spending summers working on local ranches.
Dick graduated from Encampment High School. After marrying Alice they moved to Laramie and he worked for the railroad. The family returned to Encampment after Robin was born.
Dick was a logger for eight years, then a school janitor. He began his own construction company and ran it until he retired.
He was involved in the community and the Presbyterian Church. He loved to drive around town in his golf buggy.
He had a good long life and passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family.
