Cross Country Team Ramps Up the Pace Leading Towards the State Championship

The Saratoga Panthers cross country team ended their regular season in Cheyenne at the Leroy Sprague Invitational Meet on Friday, October 11.

The varsity team racers continued to improve their individual times leading up to the state championship which will also be held in Cheyenne.

“The performances from our high school kids left me very optimistic heading into the state cross-country meet held in two weeks,” said Head Coach Rex Hohnholt. “It was great to see all the athletes challenge themselves on what I think is the truest cross-country course we run on all year.”

Girls’ Varsity Results—(Race distance 5000 meters/3.1 miles)

Vanessa King—49 th Place—24:51 (8:01 per mile pace); Zoe Butler—50 th Place—24:52 (8:01 per mile pace); Aspen Sewell—53 rd Place—25:14 (8:08 per mile pace); Madi Dunning—57 th Place—26:11 (8:26 per mile pace); Eden Scott—60 th Place—27:48 (8:58 per mile pace)

Boys’ Varsity Results—(Race distance 5000 meters/3.1 miles)

Elijah Williams—45 th Place—19:33 (6:18 per mile pace); Zane Butler—48 th Place—19:52 (6:24 per mile pace); Decker Sipe—58 th Place—21:11 (6:50 per mile pace); Dylan Greenberg—62 nd Place—21:38 (6:58 per mile pace)

According to Hohnholt, “The middle school athletes were just as impressive as they have been all year. If this group of boys and girls stick together, they will be very hard to beat once they get into high school.”

MS Girls’ Results (Race Distance 2.5 miles)

Kelsea Raymer—2 nd Place—16:52 (6:52 per mile pace); Sihauna Sanchez—3rd Place—16:56 (6:56 per mile pace); Averie Sanchez—11 th Place—12:58 (7:24 per mile pace)

MS Boy’s Results (Race Distance 2.5 miles)

Jaxon Owen—3 rd Place—16:16 (6:32 per mile pace); Edgar Faust—19 th Place—17:07 (6:54 per mile pace); Wynn Sewell—39 th Place—18:22 (7:30 per mile pace); Asher Vannett—47 th Place—18:55 (7:37 per mile pace); Jamis McLinskey—82 nd Place—21:11 (8:32 per mile pace)

The Middle School athletes have concluded their racing season. The Panther Varsity will race at the Little America Golf Course for the state championship October 25 beginning at 10:30 am.
