Lady Tigers claw their way to three wins at Invite

Team prepares for five road trips through the middle of October

The Encampment Lady Tigers traveled to the Thermopolis Invite for a two-day tournament against 1A and 2A teams. They returned with three wins.

Friday, the Tigers lost the first match against the 1A Northwest Conference Riverside Lady Rebels, a 1A Northwest Conference team 9-25, 23-25.

Later on Friday, the Lady Tigers won against the 2A Southwest Conference Wyoming Indian Lady Chiefs 25-18, 25-10.

Saturday, the Lady Tigers won against the Burlington Lady Huskies, a 1A Northwest Conference team. The Huskies are leaders in their conference after four weeks of play. The Tigers had to play three sets to win the match as the Huskies pulled out a win in the first set. The Tigers came back and won the following two sets. The scores were 19-25, 25-24 and 15-12.

In the final game of the weekend the Lady Tigers played another three sets against the Wind River 2A Southwest Conference Lady Cougars. The Tigers won the first set 15-25, then fell in the second set 19-25. The Lady Tigers came back to win the third set 15-6.

The upperclassmen are willingly putting in extra time and effort to grow, Head Coach Janice Peterson said.

“For the season, our goal is to make it to the state tournament and with their discipline and continued growth, they are giving themselves the best opportunity possible.”

The girls have shown they have great amounts of grit to come back from behind and the coaching staff continues to be proud of their efforts.

Friday, the Lady Tigers travel to Cokeville for a 5 p.m. match. Saturday they play Farson-Eden at 11 a.m. After the Farson-Eden match on Saturday, the Lady Tigers travel to Fort Washakie to play a 4 p.m match.
