Identity of downtown death released

Saratoga Police Department releases name of deceased individual, cause of death

One week after investigating the death of an unresponsive individual in downtown Saratoga, the identity of the person and the cause of death have been released by the Saratoga Police Department.

In a press release issued by Chief Mike Morris, it was announced the deceased was 38-year-old Jacob Warren McNare of Cheyenne. According to the press release, it was determined McNare had died from a single gunshot wound and the death had been ruled a suicide.

“Although McNare had past family ties to the Platte Valley and Saratoga, he had not been a resident of the area for many years,” said Morris in the press release.

As was previously reported, law enforcement and first responders had partially shut down the 100 block of East Bridge Avenue following a report of an unresponsive individual. Morris told the Sun then it was being treated as “an unattended death.”

According to the July 9 press release from Morris, the family of McNare “would like to bring attention to the battles that many people face with addiction, mental health, and suicide.”
