Voters forum scheduled

VSO to host political forum, Saratoga Sun to livestream

Valley Service Organization has invited candidates for contested races to attend a voter's forum on July 9, 2024 at 6 p.m. in Saratoga.

Because there are contested races for Carbon County Commissioner and Saratoga Town Council, those are the only candidates who will participate in this primary election voter forum, according to VSO organizers.

"The voter's forum is being held prior to absentee ballots being sent out," VSO organizer Connie Patterson stated, adding "We think it's important to get information about candidates out to voters prior to anyone casting a vote, so that's why we decided to hold the forum for the primary election this early."

She noted the primary election will be held Aug. 20 this year.

The format of the forum will allow each candidate time to make a brief opening statement about themself and why they are running for office. Candidates will then answer questions from VSO moderators specific to the office they are seeking.

Members of the public may submit written questions to the moderators prior to the forum beginning.

Time permitting, the moderators will ask candidates those submitted questions.

The forum is free and VSO encourages the public to attend prior to voting. The forum will be livestreamed by the Saratoga Sun o their Facebook page.
