The Encampment Preschool has received a generous donation that will allow for free tuition
The Wyoming Community Foundation recently granted the Encampment Preschool a generous donation of $16,425. This money will be used to cover tuition for all incoming students according to Encampment Preschool Foundation secretary Leslie McLinskey
The Encampment Preschool Foundation includes President Anita Morris, Vice President Linda Kraft, Secretary Leslie McLinskey, Treasurer Kate Johnston, and other board members are Amanda Drake and Rayna Greenwood.
Mclinskey also explained that the Encampment Preschool started from a collective of parents who recognized the need for a preschool. They banded together and started raising money for the preschool by selling beer at the county fair, which they referred to as the “Beer for Babies” fundraiser. Since then they have changed their methods of raising money to become more professional and widespread.
Preschool is extremely important in early childhood development. According to the Urban Child Institute, children that attend preschool develop literacy, language and math skills faster and have a 37 to 176 percent increase in comprehension gains.
This donation makes preschool accessible for families that wouldn’t ordinarily have the opportunity to have preschool. This means more children will find greater success in their education and have access to better opportunities.
