Downtown death under investigation

East Bridge Avenue partially shut down for several hours

Downtown Saratoga became the scene of activity for the Saratoga Police Department on the afternoon of July 2 as a portion of east Bridge Avenue was shut down for approximately three hours.

Around 1 p.m., the Saratoga Police Department and South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Services (SCWEMS) were observed attending to a vehicle with Laramie County license plates. What at first seemed to be the rescue of a dog from a hot car turned more somber as it became clear an unresponsive individual was also in the vehicle. The condition of the person became more clear to passersby with the arrival of the Carbon County Coroner’s Office.

Little information was available at the time of the incident.

Chief Mike Morris told the Saratoga Sun it was being treated as “an unattended death” and was still an active investigation. He added it appeared to be an isolated incident and there was no danger to the public at the time.
