A premium deal

The Country Store in Saratoga now selling premium diesel

The Country Store in Saratoga is now providing premium diesel, a recent move made by owners Megan Martin and her fiance, Jay Buszkiewic.

The addition of diesel, said the owners, is due to demand from their customers since taking over two years ago. Martin said investing in premium diesel helps them compete in business and brings revenue to the Platte Valley community. She said premium diesel is beneficial for local businesses.

“We wanted to prioritize our goal of obtaining premium diesel,” Martin said. “This helps our customers and sets the stage for long-term success and growth. We are excited for this great opportunity.”

According to Cenex.com, standard #2 diesel, the most common general-purpose type of diesel fuel, is refined from crude oil for both on-road and off-road diesel engine vehicles.

A premium diesel is a diesel fuel containing any additional performance-enhancing additive or additives that are designed to optimize engine performance, and fuel economy, and combat regular engine wear and tear.

Martin and Buskiewic have owned The Country Store for two years since buying the business from her mother, Kathleen Martin.

“Jay and I have been owners for two years now,” Martin said. “We purchased The Country Story from my mom, who owned it for 35 years. We are now proud owners dedicated to serving our customers and local businesses that purchase our fuel or any items they buy.”

Buszkiewic said he and Martin have been saving for a diesel pump since they bought the business.

“We have been saving up for a diesel pump for two years,” Buzkiewic said. “Megan and I have invested money into this project to grow our business. We did an above-ground storage tank that is 4,200 gallons. Our diesel fuel comes with a single dispenser with two pumps.”

Buszkiewic said this would help The Country Store's income and customers who depend on diesel trucks. He said diesel trucks come to town and it's a win-win for their business and the community.

“This helps us stay competitive with local people,” Buzkiewic said. “Our customers wanted diesel fuel from us but never had the opportunity to do so and now they can. This is why we made this investment to help out the town and get our business to grow.

Martin and Buszkiewic said providing diesel fuel will bring customers and help local businesses which depend on diesel fuel for their company vehicles. They believe it will also help give choices to consumers who travel from out of town.
