Saratoga Head Starts graduates four students from preschool, honors parents on May 22

As high school seniors were practicing their graduation walks and making sure they had all their assignments turned in before accepting their diplomas, Saratoga Head Start held its own graduation.

Part of Carbon County Child Development, Head Start held their graduation ceremony on May 22 at the Platte Valley Community Center Theater. Saratoga Head Start Director Pat Forbes led the commencement along with other Head Start staff as they showcased what students had learned for the school year, honored parents and recognized supporters.

Among the supporters recognized included Brush Creek Ranch for a $5,500 donation to the program. Other organizations and people who donated included RNB State Bank with $700 donation, David Gonzales with a $500 donation and Platte Valley Kiwanis with a $100 donation. Gonzales also painted the Head Start school and Kiwanis also provided monthly milk and graham crackers to the program.

Sarah Givens was recognised as the Parent Volunteer of the Year and Casey Koler was awarded Father of the Year. The other parent volunteers recognized included Nick Chadwick, Cody Gutierrez, Gage Seahorn, Ben Stockwell, Shannon Peth and Tiffany Moore. Peth and Moore were also recognized by Carbon County Child Development Director Mindy Monson-Greene for being part of the Parent Policy Council. Forbes herself was also recognized, retiring after 30 years with Carbon County Child Development.

Finally, the graduates heading to kindergarten next school year are Bryndle Ellis-Stockwell, Kaia Givens, Lawson Kuster and Olivia Moore.
