Lady Tigers end the regular season on a six-game losing streak

Encampment Lady Tigers will be focusing on regionals, Coach Kevin Pantle optimistic despite end-of-season slump

The last time the Encampment Lady Tigers won a game was on February 2 when they beat Valley rival the Saratoga Lady Panthers, 40-38. Since then the Lady Tigers have gone on a six-game losing streak.

Encampment lost the last two games of the regular season against Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Lady Rattlers 57-31 on Friday and to Cokeville 66-41 on Saturday. The Lady Tigers have nothing to be ashamed of, after all the 1A Southwest Conference is a powerhouse with Cokeville ranked at No. 1 and the Lady Rattlers ranked at #2.

The important lesson the Lady Tigers have learned is that every team is good in the 1A Southwest Conference and anyone can beat anyone on any day. That is something that Kevin Pantle, head coach of the Lady Tigers, has reminded his team in hopes that they will not be discouraged when they go into regionals

Pantel said, despite the six-game losing streak, he still sees a lot of positives and believes that his girls are much better than they think they are. He hopes his girls will see that when they play in regionals.

“LSRV is a very good team.” Pantle said. “We played with LSRV for three quarters. We just had a bad 2nd quarter”.

Pantle said it was expected that Cokeville was going to be a difficult team to beat, especially since they are a top-ranked team both in the conference and the state. He said his girls gave it their all against the Lady Panthers.

“Cokeville is a very good offensive team.” Pantle said. “I am very happy with my girls’ effort and their teamwork. We are getting better at the right time. We just need to put four quarters together. The girls are excited about the opportunity to go to regionals and show the rest of the state how good they are. I am very proud of this team and how far they have come.”
