Jacob Scott Fluty

Jacob Scott Fluty of Saratoga was born in Laramie, WY on August 26, 1989 to Jerry Fluty and Lisa Milliken Dilley. We hoped that he would share a birthday with Grandpa Bud Milliken (August 25); however, he let us know early on about his stubborn streak and that he would do things on his own timeframe. He was taken from us way too soon on February 9, 2024 at the age of 34, in an avalanche while snow machining in the Sierra Madres. He was doing what he loved.

Jacob brought love, laughter, sarcasm, shenanigans and adventure in everything he did. He loved music – everything from Waylon Jennings, Classic Rock, Metallica, Johnny Cash, being a few. Jacob collected what others would consider to be junk, but to him, he hit the jackpot. He collected and worked on all kind of vehicles.

Jacob graduated from Saratoga High School in 2008 and lived his entire life in Saratoga. He loved his hometown and had no intention of ever leaving Carbon County. He had an incredible work ethic and was passing that on to his children. He worked at Shively North all through high school to support his love of snow machines, followed by Sinclair Refinery and Kinder Morgan. He has been serving on the Saratoga City Council since January 2023.

Jacob married the love of his life Ashley Steele Fluty on February 17, 2017. He joked that it was almost a deal breaker when Ash told him that she didn’t know who Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash were. They had three children: Waylon Earl Fluty (6), Kadince Michelle Fluty (11) and Mariah Espinoza (13). He loved his family more than anything. He was such an amazing son, husband, dad and friend.

Jacob is survived by his Mom and step-dad Lisa and Mike Dilley; Dad Jerry Fluty and bonus mom Terri Chadwick; wife Ashley, children Kadince, Waylon and Mariah; brother Wyatt, nephew Bentley James Flanigan-Fluty; Mother/Father-In-Law Beverly and Scott Hannum, Father/Mother-Law Jerry and Janell Steele; cousins that he considered to be brothers: Chad Cooley and his family Jolene, Payton, Harley, Reagan (his best friend & God Daughter) and Kyle Fluty and his family Charli and Graelyn; Grandmas Jane Fluty and JoAnn Dobkins. Uncles Bob Fluty and Mike Cooley; Aunts Marcy Cooley and Becky Hertzog. Many cousins and great friends.

Preceded in death by: Grandpa Bill Fluty; Grandma and Grandpa Bud & Morna Milliken

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 18th at Noon at the Plate Valley Community Center in Saratoga. Lunch will be served. Please dress casual.
