U.S. Senate Candidate Visits Saratoga

Casper businessman Reid Rasner, who is running for the United States Senate seat currently held by John Barasso, visited Saratoga last Tuesday, January 23. Mr. Rasner spent the day in Saratoga visiting the North Platte Medical Center, and several other businesses. He also met with local media outlets, including the Sun, before capping off the day with a town hall at the Platte Valley Community Center. There Mr. Rasner made a few comments before turning the event over to a question and answer session.

Candidate Rasner is making a circuit of Wyoming, with an emphasis on getting in front of supporters and potential voters in the small towns around the state. He has begun a second round of these visits and notes that ‘the crowds are all larger than the first time”. He recently commissioned a poll and stated that the results show his message is being heard and respected. Since Mr. Rasner is running as a Republican, his first focus is the primary election scheduled for August 20 2024.

Reid Raster is conducting a true grass roots effort, and thus far has largely financed his own campaign. Recently additional campaign contributions have been coming in via his web site. In most respects he also serves as a one-man staff, but will soon be adding the more standard apparatus of a campaign for national office. This includes a professional fund raising company, a campaign manager and press secretary. He does have a group of volunteers assisting the campaign, including several here in Carbon County and the Platte valley.

The candidate presents himself as being ‘America first’, and points to the situation on both borders, and ‘run-away spending by the current federal government’ as immediate concerns. Mr. Rasner referenced conversations with Wyoming law enforcement, both local and statewide departments and agencies that have told him ‘the cartels operate in all 50 states, and are in Wyoming’. He points to the devastating effects of fentanyl and human trafficking representing the range of problems that have increased by a policy of open borders. Additional information about his platform and events schedule is available on the campaign website: ReidRasner.com
