Serving the Platte Valley since 1888
Our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa and Great-Great Grandpa Carl Pigg went home to Jesus on December 23, 2023, at the age of 96. He passed away at NPVMC long term care in the presence of his loving family.
Carl was born on October 16, 1927, to Walter and Sarah (Alice) Pigg in Fremont, Missouri. During his childhood he worked on the family farm and in the family logging business. After he completed the 8th grade he continued to work with his father and brothers farming and logging. In February of 1946 he was drafted into the Army for service during WWII. He was honorably discharged in November of 1946 as the war ended. In January of 1952 he was again drafted to serve during the Korean War and served until December of 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1960 to complete his service. Carl was very proud of his service to our country and was a member of one the last Wyoming WWII Honor Flights to Washington D.C. After leaving the military he made his way to Saratoga Wy to begin working in the logging industry there. That is when he met the love of his life Mary Yates and they were married on May 1, 1955, until her passing in August of 2023. He worked in the logging industry for over 50 years in Wyoming and brought his boys into the business, RJR Logging, with him for a while. He was so proud of his 3 sons Jamie, Ronnie and Robbie teaching them a very good work ethic and following them through their many activities when they were young. Carl will be warmly remembered by the community.
He is survived by Sons Ron (Kathy) Pigg of Cheyenne Wy, Rob Pigg of Pueblo Co, Brothers-in-law Dale (Jeannie) Yates of St Peters Mo, Ben (Terresa) Yates of Carmicheal Ca, 7 grandchildren, Nick (Liz) Blocker of Laramie Wy, Cristina Blocker of Saratoga Wy, Stefanie (Trestian) Miller of Casper Wy, and Mary (Aaron) Zemski of Sheridan Wy, Karen (Ryan) Buford and Sarah (Kyle) Laughlin of Saratoga Wy, Kristen (Brad) Dirck of Rawlins Wy, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson Jace. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families including Jim (Tonya) Nisely of Kansas City Mo who was just like a son to him.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Walter and Sarah (Alice), Son James Pigg of Saratoga, 4 sisters Pearl, Helen, Ann, Ruby and 2 Brothers Paul and Claude
The family is planning a combined service in May 2024 for Carl and Mary. An announcement will be made for the exact date in the future.
