Dine-in option returns for community dinner

Platte Valley Helping Hands will serve annual Thanksgiving dinner at Platte Valley Community Center

After several years of the Platte Valley Helping Hands (PVHH) Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner being available by delivery only, the 27th Annual Dinner will return with a dine-in option.

This delicious free traditional Thanksgiving meal is available to anyone in the valley, but you must contact a PVHH Board Member by Friday, November 17th by calling any one of these Board members: Marilyn Verplancke 326-8190, Crissy Blocker 329-3468, Wanda Snell 256-2860 or Jamie Campbell 321-8728.

The PVHH Board decided to eliminate their sit-down Free Thanksgiving Dinner gathering last year in order to protect those they will serve from possible exposure to Covid and flu circulating in the Platte Valley. This year, the dinner will be served from Noon to 1:30 p.m. with the deliveries being made between 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

In 2021, 160 dinners were delivered by 4 volunteer teams.

This year, approximately 20 PVHH volunteers will prepare the traditional a Thanksgiving meal of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, ham, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, roll, and pumpkin pie utilizing the Platte Valley Community Center Kitchen.

This free dinner is made possible through monetary donations received from last year’s dinner and generous donations by local businesses: Platte Valley Community Center – Joe Elder, Wolf Hotel –Doug Campbell, Valley Foods, Cassie Orduno, and Marie Christen.

Platte Valley Helping Hands is a non-profit Wyoming Corporation since 1996 with a seven member Volunteer Board established to serve the sick and suffering in the Platte Valley.
