SHS cross country finishes the season at the State 2A Championships

Marilee Williams notches 4th All-State honors

Saratoga High School cross country travelled to Cheyenne on Saturday, October 21, for the 2A State Championship. Panther runner Marilee Williams finished in 3rd place overall in the Women’s Varsity event. That finish placed Marilee on the All-State team for the fourth straight year.

The top Panther in the Men’s Varsity was Bennett Keel finishing in 14th place. Senior runner Tyler Greenberg took 22nd in his last cross country meet for SHS. The team achieved a 6th place finish in Wyoming 2A.

Coaches Hohnolt and Jordan made note of some significant individual accomplishments at this year’s State Championship. In addition to Marilee Williams taking home a medal and All-State honors, five runners put up a personal best time. and another had their seasonal best. Coach Rex Hohnholt noted, “Want to give a big shout out to Elijah (Williams), Zane (Butler), Decker (Sipe) and Dylan (Greenberg) for running your career best and to Bennett (Keel) for running your seasonal best. It always feels good to run your best when it counts the most.”. The coach also congratulated all of the Panthers, high school and middle school, for the hard work they put in throughout the season, and added “Can’t wait to see what improvements you make again next year.”.
