Saratoga Middle School Football Goes Undefeated

No matter how many years a player participates in any given sport, or even what level of play they might ascend to, they will look back at very few, if any, undefeated seasons. The Saratoga Middle School Panthers accomplished the rare feat this Fall completing a perfect 7-0 record.

Their schedule included five away games. After opening away at Burns, the team had back-to-back home games, then moved through four road games in a row. Very impressive for young players, like this, to travel well and show up at each game ready to play. And ready to play they were, putting up 258 points, and only allowing 20. Truly a commanding presence on the field each and every game.

Head Coach Walker Williams stated “I had a blast coaching this group of middle schoolers. They knew from the start they wanted to go undefeated, and we were more than willing to put in the hard work to make it happen. They are all very coachable and they always brought tons of energy to every practice and game. I’m proud of how great of leaders the 8th graders were, how the 6th graders jumped right in without hesitation to help the team in whatever way they could, and the 7th graders for accepting the role they were given to best help the team. I expect great things from this group in the future and I can’t wait to continue to be a part of it!”. Important to note that a team is often a reflection of their coaches. Coach Williams, Coach Mack Miller and Coach Carter Edwards should be recognized and commended for an outstanding job. The individual game results were: Burns- W 24-14, Meeker- W 36-0, Wind River- W 40-0, Craig- W 32-0, Shoshoni- W 30-6, Laramie- W 50-0, Rawlins- W 46-0. The team played in both 9 player and 11 player games. The 11 player format games were:  Burns, Meeker, Craig, Laramie and Rawlins.

The team members are: Teagan Brungardt #4, Ethan Hatch #2, Hunter Johnston #20, Col Williams #82, Jaxton Keel #56, Brody Johnson #12, Asher Vannett #50, Karston Hull #10, Brenlyn Wallace #51, Brig Williams #19, Weston James #32, Briggs Gardner #53, Kaden Westring #30, Bode Anderson #13, Jackson Kopasz #21, Beckett Spaulding #33, Ryan Follum #24, Caleb Williams #25, Wynn Sewell #18, Stetson Patzer #34, Brogen Love #14, Trayton Johnston #8.
