Saratoga Elementary School Hosts Ag Day

Students at Saratoga Elementary School enjoyed an opportunity for outside the classroom education last Thursday during Ag Day 2023. Sponsored by the Saratoga-Encampment-Rawlins Conservation District and the Carbon County CowBelles, there were presenters from several local agriculture producers and ag agencies on hand. The program featured hands-on activities and information showcasing the Wyoming farm & ranch agri-business industry.

The students got to see and touch big tractors, herding dogs and horses. Other stations in the rotation talked about all of the vocations associated with agriculture, like transportation and the sciences - veterinary, crop and animal. There were also presentations explaining the agencies operated by the state and federal governments that assist farmers and ranchers to manage their lands and improve operations.

The weather cooperated with a beautiful Autumn afternoon, as the classes rotated around the field from one demonstration to the next. They were actively engaged in this interactive learning exercise which was enjoyed by both students and teachers. And equally enjoyed by all of the volunteer presenters who shared their experience and expertise.
