Serving the Platte Valley since 1888
Grand Encampment Museum was the host for the 34th Annual Colorado Grand Tour lunch stop on September 13. Every September at the peak of the fall color season approximately 85 vintage cars are driven in this relaxed, non-competitive trip covering 1,000 miles through the Rockies in five days. Entrants come from around the world. This event is run in cooperation with the Colorado State Patrol. Nine patrolmen run with this group. This year the Colorado Grand was able to present a $15,000 check to the Grand Encampment Museum, as well as a $10,000 scholarship for a senior at Encampment High School.
A different route is chosen every year, generally passing through the valley every three years. This group was founded in 1989 in Englewood as an annual charity tour for 1960 and earlier sports and race cars of distinction. The Colorado Grand generates well over $500,000 annually for small Colorado charities and Western Slope towns as well as giving college scholarships to graduating high school seniors in these areas.
