Mechanical issues and hot weather didn’t stop them
Head Track and Field Coach Rex Hohnholt is not stranger to diversity and distractions when it comes to getting track teams where they need to be. Last week proved how dedicated he and the parents, grandparents and friends are to the teams.
Hohnholt said that he is “Really proud of the kids as the Lander course is a very tough one and times always seem to slow down some at this meet. The middle school girls continued to shine with their performances. They are a very talented and extremely hard working bunch of runners.” Hohnholt said he wanted to thank Coach Quig, Abby and Richard Raymer, Lana Sanchez and Rich and Carol Hughes, Fran and Bill for all their help this past Thursday when the bus broke down between Muddy Gap and Jeffrey City. With all their help we were able to shuttle the kids to Lander and not have any of them miss their events. This week is our yearly excursion to Denver for the national class Liberty Bell cross country meet held at Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado. Hohnholt said he is looking to see our kids prepare themselves for a fast race that will catapult our runners in setting some lofty goals as we move towards the second half of the season. “We had a pretty brutal week of hot weather that we didn’t quite recover from so looking forward to a little cooler weather this week in comparison.”
