I think it’s timely to review the results of the chemical poisoning of Saratoga Lake by the Game & Fish Department.
First f all, I am confident the fisheries department mixed their chemical well and killed everything they wanted to (plus everything else).
However there are some rather obvious side effects that are annoying for the lack of a better word.
The large rafts of rotting, odorous, grass is one of them. They greatly hinder boats and fishermen.
The delay in refilling the lake to capacity is another. The city was unable to float the popular dock for kids to fish off an adults to tie boats off. Even when the lake was full enough the city chose higher priorities with their skimp crews.
Then the absence of waterfowl numbers was rather obvious including other songbirds.
The impact in recreation activity was obvious as there were fewer boats and fishermen or even fishing opportunities.
Training retriever dogs had to be curtailed due to water quality concerns.
Frankly I think this process should be carefully rethought before doing it again.
