Corinne M. (Turcotte) Gaspari, 90, passed away on August 2, 2023, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford, Michigan.
Corinne was born in Iron River, MI, on July 11, 1933, to Henry and Beatrice (Bolduc) Turcotte. Corinne grew up in Iron River and attended the Iron River schools. She graduated from Northern Michigan University with an undergraduate degree in education and a master’s degree in remedial reading.
Corinne married Rudolph “Rudy” Gaspari on September 1, 1951, in Iron River, MI, and they had 5 children: Patricia, Joseph, Linda, Julie, and Michael.
Corinne taught school for 30 years in Crystal Falls, MI; Saratoga, WY; Melbourne, Australia; and Phoenix, AZ. She loved teaching and helping children master reading, and she even inspired 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren to become teachers.
Corinne was very artistic and enjoyed painting and drawing, along with basket weaving, playing bridge, knitting clothes for grandchildren and anything else the family requested. She also loved traveling both in the US and abroad. Corinne would take photos of art and scenery and then return home to paint what she had photographed. She enjoyed buying street art from aspiring artists.
After retiring and wanting to be closer to family, she moved from Phoenix to Iron Mountain in 2009.
Corinne was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy, and grandson, Joshua; 2 sisters, Yvonne (Edward) Shamion and Elizabeth (Robert) Stapleton
Corinne is survived by her children, Patricia Atanasoff of Iron Mountain, Joseph (Carolyn) Gaspari of Wyoming, Linda (Skip) Davey of Wyoming, Julie (John) Gillett of Wyoming and Michael (Julie) Gaspari of Ohio; along with 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; her brother, John (June) Turcotte of Marquette; and sister, Mary Woodworth of Marquette.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Saratoga, WY.
