Breaking Ground for Ag Education

LSRV High School holds ground breaking ceremony for new ag facility, completion expected in February ’24

The Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) High School will be getting a new agriculture education center, the groundbreaking for which was held on July 12 in Baggs.

Members of the Carbon County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees and representatives of the engineering and construction companies were in attendance. Others in attendance included FFA officers and students from LSRV High School. The new facility is expected to be completed in February 2024.

Federal funding, of $1.7 million, was secured through a grant process which originated at the school district level and moved through the Wyoming Department of Education.

According to Brett Miller, Director of Agriculture Studies, the new agriculture facility will feature removable livestock pens and, later, outdoor corrals. Miller said this will improve education in livestock science for all students and will be of special benefit to students interested in this course who do not live on a ranch. He added the new facility will provide better opportunities for students and intra-curricular learning between the school programs and FFA.
