Thursday July 12, 1973 Local Chamber of Commerce Off to Good Start

The recently organizes Saratoga-Platte valley Chamber of Commerce is surpassing all expectations with the membership Drive nearing completion.

The Chamber is located in the Simmons Realty and it’s new sign is attracting many visitors and inquiries from tourists. To date visitors have registered from Colorado, Oregon, Nebraska, Texas, South Dakota, Ohio, Illinois, California, Washington and Georgia.

Although the Chamber has only been open for one month it has already begun to show results in the number of people contacted. Mrs. Russell Moore, secretary-manager, states that to date she has answered forty-one letters asking for information as to accommodations, tourist attractions, and other pertinent information. She has had on the average of at least one long distance phone call a day seeking advice on various subjects, mostly the gasoline shortage, or as it is in this area, the lack of it. She has written four individuals wanting to move here to invest in a business. This includes one attorney and one doctor.

Anyone who hasn’t paid their membership dues is strongly urged to do so, so that the budget committee can start planning further advertising, which is to include a colored brochure. You may leave your dues at the Chamber office or phone Mrs. Moore and she will be glad to pick them up. REMEMBER A TOURIST DOLLAR TURNS OVER SEVEN TIMES IN A GIVEN COMMUNITY.

You need not be in business to join the Chamber and help get the Platte Valley on the map. The organization is open to anyone interested in promoting business.
