Saratoga Municipal Pool to open soon

Town crews working on cleaning facility in preparation for opening

On Monday, crew members from the Town of Saratoga were using powerwashers to clean algae and grime from the bottom of the Saratoga Municipal Pool in preparation for filling.

"It takes a few days to clean it thoroughly, about 14 hours to fill it and 10 days for it to equalize," said Whisper Brunch, Saratoga pool manager.

According to Bunch, the pool has enough lifeguards to open. They don't have enough, however, to offer as many water aerobics and swim classes as have been offered in the past. Instead of group swim classes, they will be an option offered privately through a lifeguard. The preparation to open the swimming pool comes following multiple meetings of the Saratoga Town Council discussing the issue and whether there were enough staff.

The hot pool, or hobo pool, is next on the list. Over the past few weeks, the free hot pool has been closed to the public due to the rising levels of the nearby North Platte River. The Town of Saratoga will pump water out of the pool to get the level below the sidewalks, which has been cited as a safety issue. Following the pumping of excess water, there will also be some cleaning to do prior to the area being safe for public use.
