Saratoga resident Pat Bailey entered this world in Spokane Washington on July 22, 1941. Her younger brother John still lives in the family home. She was the daughter of Jack and Ethel McLay. She died the evening of May 19th in the arms of her husband of over 58 years. Pat and Keith were married on December 26 in the chapel of Whitworth College in Spokane and immediately began their journey through life together. That journey started in Artesia New Mexico and over the next 9 years involved multiple move into and out of Ponca City Oklahoma. Keith's job with Continental Pipe Line dictated that. In addition to the multiple returns to Ponca City there were stops in Billings Montana, Lake Charles Louisiana, Houston Texas and a return to Spokane where Keith had started his career and met Pat. In spite of all the moves all four children, Kelly, Craig, John, and Katie were born in Ponca City.

Following his time with Continental Pipe Line in 1973 Keith accepted a job with Williams Brothers Pipe Line and spent the rest of his career in Tulsa with what became the Williams Companies.
Because of Keith's travel schedule the primary responsibility of raising the children fell to Pat. She welcomed that responsibility and excelled in it. That pattern of taking on responsibility and doing important work characterized Pat's life.
work immediately after graduating from high. She worked for an optical supply company, a marine company and was working for a nationally branded bakery at the time of her marriage.
Pat and Keith became Saratoga residents several years ago and she immediately became involved in helping the PVCC put on the annual Party on the Platte. In addition to creating items that were popular in both the silent and live auction she worked on everything from decorating the room, to creating bid sheets and table decorations that matched that years theme. In addition to the PVCC Foundation Pat and Keith were also supporters of the Bullfest, Skijoring, Saratoga Days, the Legacy Foundation, the Volunteer Fire Department, Festival of the Arts, the Saratoga Library and the Saratoga Museum.
There is a Celebration of Life planned for the 22nd of July at the Wolf Hotel. That would have been Pat's 82 birthday. It will be a casual affair for friends to gather and share happy memories of Pat. The Wolf is the place where pre-Covid every Thursday you could find the "bridge" ladies gathered for lunch prior to heading off to the senior center to get the afternoon's games underway.
If you want to make a memorial donation in Pat's name any of the organizations she and Keith supported would welcome it.
