A heart for community and its members
Each year the Valley Service Organization (VSO) presents two awards, one for a Woman or a women of distinction who have contributed to the North Platte Valley with their commitment to bettering the community by volunteering their time and efforts. This year, Stacy Crimmins was given this award. Crimmins’ list of accomplishments is pages long. Crimmins served with the Platte Valley Saratoga Chamber of Commerce for 17 years. She also developed the Hometown Hero program, Leader’s Luncheon monthly lectures, Spring Success Series, and the Festival of Trees holiday fundraiser. After retirement she did not relax. she has continued to served the community in many capacities including grant writing, building design and Arts Council. She was also a 4H Club Leader, founding members of Platte Valley Arts Council and She serves as an organist, Sunday School Teacher, and Church Council at the Platte Valley Lutheran Church.
Crimmins has made a huge difference in the lives and the overall beauty of the Valley. She exhibits great strength of character, amazing talents and determination.
The Youth Citizenship Award was given in the form of a scholarship and presented by Cheryl Ervin to Peyton Munroe. Munroe grew up on a ranch east of Riverside, Wyoming. She graduated this year from Encampment High School and loves her school and her community. She is very active in many clubs and organizations at her school. Munroe plans to attend a Wyoming junior college and pursue an Agricultural Business and Animal Science degree. She helps so many in her community, including the very young, her peers, teachers, and whomever may need her assistance. She plans to raise her own livestock and also wants to be a representative for ADM Feed Company. Her goal is to travel and educate others on the importance of the right feed for their livestock. She says the agriculture industry is always changing and the feed should as well. Peyton Munroe is truly an asset to her community.
