BOCCC talk opioid funds, grant applications for emergency management
The Board of Carbon County Commissioners discussed a variety of things during their March 21 meeting.
Topics ranged from discussion over new opioid settlement funds, approval of grant applications, a split cost on radios between the Carbon County FIre Department and the U.S Forest Service, entitlement funds for the Dixon Airport, salary for the county emergency manager and deputy manager, and a purchase of two tilt-deck trailers for the road and bridge department.
Opioid Funds
Carbon County has received opioid settlement money from three different settlement revenue lines for the current amount of $248,497.77. Thirty-five percent of the money is retained by the State with 65% going to local government identities. According to Ashley Mayfield-Davis, the Attorney General’s Office said it wouldn’t take any fees themselves if the state would give 75% to be divided by the local government identities and for the state to retain only 25% in the new agreement.
The Carbon County Commissioners approved the new OneWyo Memorandum agreement.
Funding Emergency Management
The Carbon County Office of Emergency Management is applying for a grant application for $25,760 through the Wyoming Homeland Security Grant to update their computer software packages.
The other grant application OEM is applying for will pay the salaries of the Emergency Manager Coordinator and Deputy using a 50/50 split of the dollar amount of $161,039.52 so each position will be paid $80,519.76 per fiscal year.
Looking for Channel 307
The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Forest Service have reached an agreement where the Forest Service will fund 49% of equipment in the amount of $8,000 to purchase radios which can contact the 307 Rescue channel to help with communication with search and rescuers who are working on the ground.
Airport Entitlements
The Rawlins Airport annual entitlement funds were reimbursed for the Dixon Airport fencing project in the amount of $68,000.00. The commissioners approved reimbursement of entitlement funds.
Tilting Towards Funds
The Carbon County Road and Bridge Department requested $122,200 for two tilt deck trailers with the bid they received from Wyoming Machinery.. The two tilt deck trailers are from the company Trail King. The commissioners accepted the bid from Wyoming Machinery for the two tilt trailers using Gateway South Impact Funds for a total of $122,200.
The next meeting of the Board of Carbon County Commissioners will be at 9 a.m. at the Carbon Building-Courthouse Annex in Rawlins.
