Panthers grapple to second place in Hanna

Saratoga wrestlers see individual, team wins at Carbon County Invitational on Friday

The Saratoga wrestling team had eight grapplers compete in Hanna at the Carbon County Invitational on Friday.  Due to injuries, Saratoga's team was missing Josiah Stockwell, Skyler Wood, and Seth Stephens.  Anthony Campbell and Kellen Reeder were also unable to compete due to illness. The Carbon tournament was a mix of brackets and round robin competitions.  Overall Saratoga had four first place finishes, two wrestlers placed second, and one finished third. These individual efforts resulted in the Panthers placing second in the team standings behind Big Piney, scoring 80 points. 

120 pound round robin

In the first round, Tuker Carricato won by fall over Nate Brown of Big Piney. Carricato's second match of the day saw him lose by fall to Nathan Fish of Niobrara County. Carricato placed second. 

126 pound bracket 

Allyster Ingraham began the tournament with a fall against Clay Willy of Niobrara County. Ingraham continued his run to a first place finish by decisioning Jerrett Fear of Big Piney in the semifinals. He secured his championship in a close fought final decision against Aiden Miller from Wyoming Indian. 

145 pound bracket 

Slayd Daley represented Saratoga well with three pins on the way to the 145 pound title. Daley's first win was a fall against Cayetano Garcia-Meizoso from Glenrock. The semifinal match was won by Daley over HEM's Samuel Ramirez. Daley won his last match over Caden Clifford of Big Piney. 

170 pound round robin

Silas Vannett and Douglass Campbell both competed in the 170 pound round robin. Vanett placed second and Campbell was third. Vannet began the first round with a fall over Campbell. Vannett and Campbell both had pins when they wrestled Wyoming Indian's Avery Posey and James McCormick (Big Piney).  Campbell and Vannett also each both suffered a loss by fall to Wyatt Trembly from Dubois. 

195 pound round robin 

Quade Jordan had three pins and one loss on his way to another first place for Saratoga. Jordan had falls in his first three matches against Blake Miller (Niobrara County), Jett Jones (Dubois), and Clayton Mulliken (Big Piney).  In Jordan's last match of the day, he lost by fall to Thomas Howard from Big Piney. 

285 pound bracket 

Saratoga's two wrestlers in the 285 class were Ben Wagy and Lane Robinson. Robinson lost his first match by fall to Roland Burton of Wyoming Indian. Unfortunately Robinson's second match was also a loss by fall, this time to Big Piney's Travis Reed. Wagy began the tournament with a fall against Big Piney's Kian Pelham. In the semifinals, Wagy suffered a loss by fall to Case Barrett from Glenrock. Wagy's consolation semifinal match was a loss by fall to Travis Reed from Big Piney. 

Saratoga competes next in Yoder on Friday, February 17th for the 2A East Regional Championships.
