Riverside approves restroom bids

Lone bidder receives contract for under $80,000

Despite a short agenda, the Riverside Town Council was able to open bids and receive updates during their February 9 meeting.

South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Services representative Helen Weiland was at the meeting to share updates. She said SCWEMS had received a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) which will be used to purchase an ambulance in Hanna. This grant also freed up money from the State Loan and Investment Board (SLIB) grant application for an additional ambulance purchase. Councilman Mark Helwick asked Weiland if there was a major medical event in Encampment/Riverside, where would a helicopter land. Weiland said the football field at the school is the main landing zone.

Mayor Leroy Stephenson updated the council on the new restrooms. He said they only received one bid for building the new restrooms. The town of Riverside had advertised for bids in the Saratoga Sun and sent mailings to contractors in the area. High Plains Foam Building Systems was the bidder at $79,000.00. The council approved the bid.

Councilman Ed Golden asked Weiland about the maintenance at the river access. She said she removes the trash and town pays for a port-a-potty during float season.

Mayor Stephenson told the council that Brad Heibig had plowed the road to the lagoons.

The council approved Requisition #17 in the amount of $10,254.00 coming from the specific purpose tax.

Riverside Town Clerk Jan Cook reported to the council that the stop sign at First Street and Carbon is gone. Mayor Stephenson believes it is under the snow across the street in the pasture.

Council read a letter from Grand Encampment Museum asking for a $500.00 donation to help with paying utilities. Mayor Stephenson asked Clerk Cook to draft a letter stipulating what the donation was to be used for. Council approved.

A 2023 Christmas Lighting contest was discussed and tabled for later in the year when they would find someone to chair the contest and determine prizes.

The next regular Riverside Town Meeting will be held on March 9 at 5 p.m. at Riverside Town Hall
