Carl Delton Kerbs passed away on January 21, 2023 at his home on the 4 Bar Ranch outside of Saratoga, WY, surrounded by his wife and family.
Carl was born May 7, 1929 in Great Bend, KS, the third child of Fritz and Ethel Kerbs, and grew up on the Kerbs Hereford Cattle and Wheat Farm near Otis, KS. The family acquired a ranch near Coalmont, CO during the Dust Bowl. In North Park, Carl graduated from Jackson County High School in 1948 with Nadene Chedsey; they married that September 5th. They started their life on the Kerbs Farm in Otis, but they later found a new home at the ranch on the banks of Jack Creek in Carbon County, where they lived for 70 years.
Carl never let any of life's difficulties diminish his character or dent his optimism. Known for his quick grin and sincere belly laugh, he was steadfast on family, hard work, land, and livestock. He gathered joy from grandkids hugs and puppy breath, any cribbage hand that beat Mom's, and working their big, beautiful yard in the summer.
Carl's marriage of 74 years was blessed with 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and 13 great- grandchildren (the 14th due this spring). His children appreciate the work ethic Mom and Dad instilled in them.
Carl is preceded in death by his son Carl Blane Kerbs, his parents, his sister Viola (Ollie) and brother in-law Alvin Deutsch, his brother Freddie, brother in-law David Stone, his in-laws Francis (Pete) and Lois (Spud) Chedsey, and his daughter in-law Becky (Ducsai) Kerbs.
Carl is survived by his wife, Nadene, his sister Mary Ann Stone, his brother in-law Glen (Bev) Chedsey, his children Belinda (Mike) Tipton, Scott (Kathleen) Kerbs, Kip Kerbs, Heidi (Norm) Custis, and Kandi (Kirk) Bennett, and all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At Carl's request, no services will be held this winter. His family will celebrate his life in the spring. An online guestbook is available at casadacares.com. Memorial contributions in Carl's name can be made to the Carbon County 4-H Foundation. P.O. Box 280, Rawlins, WY 82301.
