Saratoga continues to stay undefeated with win against Cokeville
The Saratoga High School Panthers faced off against the Cokeville Panther in a matchup of two of the stronger teams in the state. The game proved it.
"Cokeville is a really good basketball team," Jason Williams, head basketball coach of Saratoga said."They have some really good guards, they shoot the basketball well, they are quick and it was really a battle. I don't think either team ever led by five or six points throughout the game."
Williams knew being undefeated the other Panthers were wanting to be the team that beat Saratoga.
"You could tell they had been practicing for us," Williams said. "No doubt everybody wants to take us down."
Saratoga is the only undefeated boys basketball team.
Williams said the Cokeville game was the epitome of a team effort. Saratoga had four players go into double digits.
"It took every play, every point, every defensive stop to pull off our win," Williams said. "It took multiple efforts on defense to contain them when we could. It went to the wire. We never felt safe until even in the last thirty seconds and they were fouling us."
Saratoga beat Cokeville 64-61.
Williams said Heston Fisher played his best basketball in the two games this weekend.
""Heston got a huge offensive rebound with less than two minutes to play," Williams said. "We really needed it right at that moment. And he played well against Farson."
Farson-Eden missed a few shots in the beginning, Williams said, and the Panthers were able to get ahead and stay ahead.
"Farson has some big players and they are good. They missed some shots they usually don't, so they got a little behind," Williams said. "We will be meeting them again in a couple weeks at their home court and that could very well be a different story."
Saratoga beat Farson 55 to 29.
Saratoga will be meeting Southeast on Friday and Encampment on Saturday. Both games are away.
