Lady Tigers attack

Weekend games were too close to call at times

The Encampment Lady Tigers kept fans on the edge of their seats this last weekend with amazing plays, close calls and fancy footwork. Friday the girls faced the Farson Eden Pronghorns with a home court advantage and it paid off. Scores were close, but the Tigers never backed down.

Coach Clint Bromley shared his thoughts," I didn't think this was our best effort and we can play this team much better. Cora Schroeder played an average game. She scored 13 points with 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Kyenna Jackson scored 11 points with 12 rebounds. Both girls helped to secure this victory. Kayla Smith picked up 3 points and 10 rebounds, Peyton Munroe rebounded 8 times. As a team we struggled from the free throw line shooting only 7 for 22 and helped keep the score close. I thought Farson-Eden played a good game and felt that we played down to their level." Encampment's Lady Tigers beat the Pronghorn's 33-28.

Saturday's game was a different story. The girls came out with an attitude to win and it showed. Schroeder was up to her high standards and scored 21 points with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Allison Bromley scored 7 of the 44 points that took the game for the win, as well as taking 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. Bromley said, " The game was an exciting and fun game with several lead changes and we just got the last shot. Alison Bromley drove the lane and put in a lauip with only 2 seconds on the clock giving us the 1 point victory. This is one of the biggest wins of this team's career and they are getting better every day. Schroeder had her best game of the season and we are proud of what she is accomplishing this year. We had seven girls score in the game, making this a total team effort." Kyenna Jackson scored 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Kayla Smith picked up 5 points and 5 rebounds.

Encampment Lady Tigers will go to North Park on Tuesday January 24 and face the Wildcats for a non-conference game. Friday, January 27 the Southeast Cyclones will be in Encampment for a non-conference game and Saturday, January 28, Saratoga's Panthers comes to fight off the Tigers starting at noon for a conference game. With Saratoga Lady Panthers at 6-6 and the Lady Tigers at 5-5 this should prove to be an exciting matchup.
