Riverside Town Council members renew Oath of office
The Riverside Town Council hasn't changed. The incumbents had no competition on the ballot and were kind enough to sit for another few years on the council. Riverside Town Clerk Jan Cook presided over the swearing in of incumbent mayor Leroy Stephenson who then presided over the swearing in of Fred Lorenz and Ed Golden.
Helen Wieland, South Central Wyoming Emergency Services (SCEWMS) representative, addressed the council. She said construction on the Saratoga station will continue and half of the invoice has been paid to Osprey Construction. They have a property in Hanna where the old elementary school was that may work for their new station. The ARPA grant requires a 100% match so SCWEMS would have to come up with $260,000.00 to move forward with the project. SCWEMS has until December 31, 2026 to complete construction to use the grant money.
Mayor Stephenson said that they have one bid for building the restrooms, but there is still another month to get them in. The council will open the bids next month at the regular meeting.
Councilman Mark Helwig asked about the possibility of a solution concerning driveways being plowed in. He said he had a few phone calls from people needing help clearing their driveways because they'd been plowed in. Councilman Lorenz said he didn't think they should use town equipment for that purpose. After much discussion it was decided that a list could be put together showing who is available with skid steers, truck and ATV plows. The list will be kept at the town hall for reference.
The next regular meeting of the Riverside Town Council will be February 9, 2023 at 5 p.m. at the Riverside Town Hall.
