Escobedo home destroyed in early morning blaze

Family loses 25 years of memories and belongings while away

While most of us were having a cup of coffee, scrolling Facebook or reading the paper the morning of December 28 the Escobedo home was destroyed by a blaze that started in the rear of the trailer from an undetermined cause.

The owners, Manuel and Maria Escobedo were not home, having left weeks before for to winter at their home in Mexico.

The Escobedo's are well known in the area and almost immediately the community was reaching out to the family to help. Faby Pinedo, the couple's niece, set up a Go Fund Me fundraiser on Facebook and also has a special account for them at RNB State Bank in Saratoga.

The Escobedo's came from Mexico and Walden was their first stop. Several of their children already lived in the area or in Denver. They stayed in Walden for about three years, moving to Saratoga when Louisiana Pacific opened the mill. Initially they rented a trailer house on Sharp Street, but soon after they purchased a trailer house and made it their home where they raised their sons and spent many hours with their family and friends. The couple isn't expected back until spring.
