Ninth Street may not drift in this year

Encampment Town Crews Prepare for Winter

Every year the west end of Ninth Street near Highway 70 drifts in as much as six feet deep. Billy Accord and the rest of the Encampment Town Crew are trying to make that less likely this year. Accord said, "that part of Ninth drifts really bad and we fight it anytime the wind blows. We cut that slope back on the south side to help reduce the drifting as well as give us a little more room to plow. Additionally, we will fix the ditch on the south side of the street so it will keep water off the road."

With the powder coming in every snowstorm, the wind can bury a street in a matter of hours.
