Tigers trounce Buckaroos

The Encampment football team takes out Kaycee from championship contention.

The Encampment Tiger High School football team went to Kaycee to stay in the hunt for the state championship in 6-man. They did so very effectively, keeping the higher seeded team scoreless.

“We emphasized starting fast against Kaycee all week long,” Tiger head coach Kegan Willford said.  “I feel like we accomplished that.”

The Tigers started scoring from the onset of the game.

Quade Jordan ran 39 yards for a touchdown and the Tigers were off and running.

Jordan scored another touchdown running it in for three yards. Kaban Pickett scored the PAT making the game 13 to 0 in the 1st quarter.

It was Pickett who became the scoring machine for the Tigers as the 1st quarter continued on getting two touchdowns and two PATs making the score 26 to 0 going into the 2nd quarter.

Pickett scored another rushing touchdown going in 25 yards.

Jordan scored next making the score 38 to 0.

Gunner Henrie threw a 14 yard pass to Baylin Sifford for the next score and Pickett got the PAT.

Going into half-time, the Tigers were up 45 to 0.

If the home crowd had any hopes of the Buckaroos getting back into the game, they were quickly dashed as Tyrel Brown caught a pass from Dashaal Baysinger to go up 51 to 0.

It was the only score in the 3rd quarter.

There was also only one score in the 4th quarter and it was done by the Tigers when Ryon Miller ran 35 yards to score.

The Buckaroos season was over with the Tiger win of 57 to 0.

“We were aggressive on defense and had a good run/pass balance on offense,” Willford said.  “The team is excited to be playing football for another week.”

The Tigers will go to Baggs on Saturday to face the number one seed in their division. Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) beat their opponent easily this past week. LSRV played Encampment earlier this year, and the Rattlers came out on top 78 to 26.

The Tigers are aware they will have to play a strong game to challenge last year’s state champions for a shot at the championship. The winner of the game will be going to Laramie for the 6-man state championship on November 12.
