Shana Ward Memorial Invitational Cross Country

Four hundred and thirty athletes gather at the Saratoga Hot Springs Resort Golf Course.

According to Coach Rex Hohnholt, the Shana Ward Memorial Invitational was the largest cross country meet ever with 17 high school teams participating.

Parents, coaches and athletes helped at the meet, providing cookies, setting up and tearing down equipment and serving water and popsicles.

Hohnhold said that hosting this event every year brings him joy as it gives the community a chance to see all the hard work at the cross country athletes put into being successful. Hohnhold said he feels very fortunate to work with such a great group of student athletes. He is also grateful to the seniors, Madison Teichman, Allison Bromley, Grant Bartlett, Grady Bartlett, Calvin Condict, Brayden Barkhurst and Cale Mowry.

Hohnholt gave a big shout out to the middle school boys who all placed in the top 14 in their race. There are only three boys, but they brought their game. The girls high school team placed 2nd in the meet.

There are two meets left in the regular season. Hohnholt obviously loves coaching these kids. He said he believes in all of them and encourages them to get proper rest, eat well, and visualize themselves experiencing success before they get to the meet.
