Third Annual Pesto Festo serves up dinner fresh from the garden

Food, fun and friends, it doesn't get much better than this

The sun was setting over the prairie when dinner was served at the Saratoga Community Garden Pesto Fest gathering. Thanks to the organizational abilities of Geri Doherty and the commitment to excellence of the volunteers assisting her, the event was a huge success. Approximately 60 people attended the dinner. Everything concerning the event was based on sustainable energy. From solar energy to power the lights that hung dancing above the guests heads, to composting the garbage and recycling the aluminum, nothing went to waste.

Sipping sparkling water, and eating homemade pesto on pasta with the freshest salad anyone had eaten lately was a treat. The relaxing atmosphere sitting amongst the plants and trees was slightly intoxicating. A heady mix in the night air of Russian sage, tomato plants and cherry trees, coupled with honey bees manufacturing their nectar not far away, created a wonderful dining atmosphere.
