What's best for the town?

The Saratoga Town Council discusses food trucks, street vendors and signs

At the Saratoga Town Council Meeting on August 16, 2022, Amanda Knotwell presented a question about the food trucks coming to Saratoga, setting up, selling their items and then leaving. Several local businesses have contacted Amanda to ask why food trucks don’t have to apply for a permit to set up in town? The town does not currently have an ordinance for this issue. The council will do further research.

Discussion ensued about the town council vacancy and how to fill the spots. Discussion was tabled until the next meeting.

Chief of Police, Ken Lehr, advised that he needed signatures to extend the 2020 SHSP grant. This will allow the SPD to claim the last $10,000.

Officer Casner has completed all of his training. Lehr requested a $1 an hour raise for Casner. The raise was approved.

Lehr had also submitted a grant request for money to buy bullet proof vests. The vests total will be $3,900. This is a 50/50 match. Lehr requested $3,900 for the vests from the Town, half of which will be returned to Town once the grant is received. A motion was made to table this discussion until the line item can be determined.

The Saratoga Fire Department will have hose and pump testing completed soon.

The Saratoga Hot Springs Resort sign variance came under discussion. The council voted to send the variance issue back to the Planning Commission and address some concerns.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. on September 6th at the Saratoga Town Hall.
