Senior Wheels!

The Saratoga Senior Center is offering a service that has not been made available to Platte Valley residents before and has been desperately needed for a long time.

Anyone in need of transportation to doctor appointments or shopping for necessities, will be able to utilize this service.

Brenda Zeiger, Manager at the Senior Center, said that there is a minimal cost and a few requirements that need to be met first because this is a Senior Center provided activity.

Arrangements will need to be made with the Senior Center at least two days before transportation is needed to ensure there is availability.

There is a sign up-sheet posted at the Saratoga Senior Center for those wanting to go on the once monthly shopping trip to Rawlins. Residnts of Saratoga who are not senior citizens may sign up for the trip if there is any room left on the Bus. Priority will be given to Seniors.

The Senior Center also serves delicious meals at noon throughout the week, except on legal Holidays. The cost of a meal is a reasonable.

Call the Senior Center before 8:30 am if you want lunch or need home delivered meals.

Aging Division qualifications must be met for home delivery meals. Take-out meals are currently available for eligible participants to request them.

Zeiger would also would like everyone to know that guests are always welcome. She does need to know how many people are coming ahead of time please. These services are being offered to assist patrons in maintaining independent living.

According to the National Council on Aging today, nearly 11,000 Senior Centers serve 1 million older adults aged 50 + every day. Approximately 70% of senior center participants are women. Three-quarters visit their center one to three times per week and spend an average of 3.3 hours per visit.
