Nine Miners to Green River

HEM track and field takes small team to Green River Invite

The Hanna, Elk Mountain, Medicine Bow (HEM) High School Miner track and field team went to Green River on March 25 where they faced competition with eight other teams. Three of those teams came from Carbon County. Encampment, Saratoga and Rawlins sent their teams to Green River.

Although the team had only nine athletes go to Green River on Friday, the Miners still had a good showing at the the Invite having several students place in the top 20.

Avery Scott placed 1st in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.10. Scott also had a good race coming in 2nd in the 100 meter dash with a time 13.31. She came in 10th in the triple jump going 28-8.25.

T’lyssa Solaas came in 6th in the triple jump going 29-2.75. T’lyssa placed 8th in the 100 meter hurdles hitting a time of 18.62. In the 300 meter hurdles she came in 12th with a time of 56.80. Justine Widdison came in 9th in the long jump hitting 14-5.5 and she placed 10th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 10.49.

The boys side of the team saw Joseph Borah come in 3rd in the shot with a distance of 43-1.75. Borah placed 14th in the discus with a distance of 90-1.

Jerod Nelsen came in 11th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5.38.76 and 15th in 800 meter run with a time of 2.38.94.

Anthony Solass came in 12th in the 110 meter hurdles with time of 27.01.

The Miners are off for spring break and will be back in action on April 8 a they attend the Burt Wilford Invite in Saratoga.
