Lady Tigers fall twice on the road

Encampment girls dealt two conference losses over weekend

As the regular season draws to a close for the Encampment Lady Tigers, the reality of a pig-tail play-in for the 1A West Regional Tournament is becoming more likely.

On Friday, Encampment was hosted by the Cokeville Lady Panthers—who sit undefeated at the top of the 1A Southwest Conference—and suffered a double-digit loss. The following day, the Farson-Eden Lady Pronghorns hosted the Lady Tigers and just narrowly avoided their claws for a close scoring game.

Lady Tigers vs. Lady Panthers

When the Lady Tigers hosted Cokeville last month, it resulted in a homecoming heartbreak for Encampment as they were dealt a nearly 20 point loss by the Lady Panthers. Coming into Cokeville’s territory for a rematch, it would not go the way of the Lady Tigers. Head Coach Clint Bromley was still able to find some silver linings in the game.

“I thought this was one of Cora Schroeder’s best games of the season,” said Bromley, “Unfortunately as a team we were not able to match Cokeville’s intensity.”

Schroeder scored 16 points against the Lady Panthers and had 5 rebounds. Eckerley Pickett contributed to the score with 10 rebounds.

The final score was 30-60, Cokeville.

Lady Tigers vs. Lady Pronghorns

It continued to be a weekend for rematches as Encampment was hosted by the Lady Pronghorns the day after their loss to Cokeville. When the Lady Tigers hosted Farson-Eden earlier in the season, they had sunk their claws into the Lady Pronghorns to earn their first conference win in three years.

Going into the matchup, Encampment was just one conference win ahead of the Lady Pronghorns and had all but written their ticket to the regional tournament. Farson-Eden, however, was determined to try and make their way to the regional tournament as they dealt a loss to Encampment in the rematch.

“We never got our offense going and had a tough time shooting the ball,” Bromley said. “As a team, we went 0-for-12 from the 3-point line and Farson went 2-for-10 and that decided the game.”

Peyton Munroe led the Lady Tigers in this game as she scored 9 points and had 8 rebounds. Kristie Jordan, meanwhile, scored 8 points and had 3 assists and Pickett had 7 rebounds.

The final score was 24-30, Farson-Eden.

Following their 0-2 weekend, the Encampment Lady Tigers are 5-8 for the season and 1-6 for conference play. They sit at No. 4 in the 1A Southwest Conference.

The Encampment Lady Tigers have two games left in their regular season.

They will have hosted the Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Lady Rattlers on February 15 and will host the Rock River Lady Longhorns at 4 p.m. on February 18.
