Tigers split the weekend

Encampment deals loss to Rock River, dealt loss by LSRV

The Encampment Tigers were dealt another conference loss this weekend as they split their matches between a non-conference away game on Friday and a conference home game on Saturday.

While the Tigers were able to deal a loss to the Rock River Longhorns, the following day the Little Snake River Valley (LSRV) Rattlers came into Tiger Nation and sank in their fangs. In the difficult 1A Southwest Conference, however, the Tigers can take some pride in they made a few scratches on LSRV as well.

Tigers vs. Longhorns

Friday’s game against Rock River likely served as a morale boost for the Tigers. Venturing into the Longhorns’ court, Encampment was able to deal a more than 20 point loss to Rock River. Despite the hosting team’s best efforts, they ultimately fell to the Tigers by a score of 59-32.

Tigers vs. Rattlers

Trading a gridiron for the hardwood, this was the first time Encampment faced the Rattlers since the Six-Man Football Championship in November. Though the game was a conference loss for the Tigers, Encampment was able to keep LSRV from scoring too high on them with only a 7 point difference by the time the buzzer sounded. The final score was 64-57.

Following their split weekend, the Encampment Tigers are now 4-3 for the season and 0-2 in conference play. Encampment will get another chance at some conference games this weekend for homecoming as they host the Cokeville Panthers and the Farson-Eden Pronghorns.

Encampment will host the Panthers at 4 p.m. on January 21 and the Pronghorns at noon on January 22.
