Encampment Town Council meeting moves quickly

The Encampment Town Council’s January 13 meeting was full of activity, though it all moved rather quickly.

Heard at the meeting was a letter of interest for South Central Wyoming Emergency Medical Services (SCWEMS) Joint Powers Board. The 35th Annual Sierra Madre Winter Carnival held four spots in the new business section of the agenda, along with 2022 recreation board ideas appearing on the list as well. Designated depositories, official newspaper and posting places were decided. Advertising for the 15th Annual Vaccination Clinic on February 19 was approved.

With financials, the December 2021 payroll and contracted liabilities for the town amounted to $24,412.19. Late monthly bills totaled in the amount of $3,563.06. The payment of regular monthly bills amounting to $27,975.25 were approved.

SCWEMS will have a new representative for the Encampment area. The town council approved a letter of interest from Penny Layman to be the new SCWEMS representative for the area.

Advertising for the 15th Annual Vaccination Clinic was approved. The vaccination clinic will be held on February 19 in the Encampment Town Hall.

Also advertising the 35th Annual Sierra Madre Winter Carnival has begun. With prize money nearing $3,000 the council seems hopeful for a large turn out. Two resolutions regarding street closures were also authorized for the ASMWC. One street closure will be for the Sixth Street Sprint. Where contestants will race snowmobiles on city streets. The other authorized street closure will be for sled races at the ASMWC.

The next meeting of the Encampment Town Council will be held at 7 P.M. on February 10 at Encampment Town Hall.
