Saratoga girls go 2-1 while in Shoshoni
The Saratoga Lady Panthers battled three teams over the weekend, winning two of their three games. The Lady Panthers clawed through the Wrangler Invite. In their very first game of the season facing the Shoshoni Lady Wranglers, the Lady Panthers won 45-36. Whitney Bennett scored 15 points, followed by Olivia Everett scoring 13 points and Rhiwan Williams scoring 10 points. Bennett took 9 rebounds followed closely by Williams with 5 rebounds. The team stole the ball 7 times. Bennett had 5 steals and Allie Condict had 2 steals.
“We worked our kinks out in the first game against Shoshoni and played a good game,” said Head Coach Heather Bartlett.
Next the Lady Panthers battled the Dubois Lady Rams. Saratoga held a steady lead over all four quarters of the game. Playing a strong game, according to Bartlett, the Lady Panthers won 67-28. Leading the scoreboard, Everett scored 16 points followed closely by Bennett with 14 points and Maddie Teichman with 10 points. Bennett took 10 rebounds and stole the ball 6 times. Teichman and Williams had 5 steals each.
In the final game of the weekend the Saratoga Lady Panthers faced the Upton Lady Bobcats. Though Saratoga was scratched by the Lady Bobcats, Bartlett was pleased with the game.
“We felt very good about this game, they are one of the best teams in the state (in my opinion) and we gave them a very good game, which shows very well on our girls team.” The final score of the game was 49-37. Bennett scored 12 points and was followed by Olivia Everett with 10 points.
“We have a new team with young players as well as strong returning players. We are learning to work together and ended up looking really well by the end of the weekend. I am excited for this season,” said Heather Bartlett.
The next games for the Saratoga Lady Panthers will be at 4:00 p.m. on January 7 as they host the Encampment Lady Tigers at Saratoga Middle High School.
