Molden named state penitentiary warden

Molden is first woman warden in history of WSP

The Wyoming Department of Corrections announced the promotion of Neicole Molden from deputy warden to warden of Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins on Friday.

Molden was hired by the Wyoming Department of Corrections in 2009 as a Unit Manager Supervisor. Since being with the Wyoming Department of Corrections, she has held the positions of Associate Warden and Deputy Warden at Wyoming State Penitentiary. In total, Molden has more than 28 years in criminal justice. She hold a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Wyoming and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Wyoming Department of Corrections Daniel Shannon said Molden is extensively experiences in both field services and prison operations, making her an extremely qualified employee.

“We are happy to have the opportunity to promote her to this critical position of leadership in the Department,” said Shannon in the press release.

Molden said “I am truly humbled by the opportunity to be the first female warden for the Wyoming State Penitentiary. I know that the experience and knowledge that I have will assist me to be successful in this position. I am grateful to be able to lead the dedicated staff of the Wyoming State Penitentiary and watch the staff become one successful team.”

Molden will become Warden effective December 17, 2021.
